GRP Lining by Saba Al Waha

GRP lining turns concrete water tanks, pools, ponds and drains into smooth, watertight and hygienic surfaces that resist chemicals and corrosion. Saba Al Waha installs GRP (glass reinforced plastic) lining for homes, buildings and industrial sites across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and all emirates.

What is GRP lining?

GRP lining is a layer of glass-fibre mat soaked in resin and laid directly onto the prepared surface. As the resin cures, it forms a hard, seamless and fully bonded shell. A final gel coat gives a smooth, easy-to-clean finish. Because the lining follows the shape of the tank or structure, there are no joints for water or bacteria to collect in.

Where we use GRP lining

  • Underground and roof water tanks – potable water tanks with food-grade resins and gel coats.
  • Swimming pools and water features – a durable, watertight finish.
  • Fish ponds and landscape water bodies
  • Drainage channels, sumps and manholes – protection against sewage gases and chemicals.
  • Chemical and industrial tanks, bunds and trenches – with resins chosen for the chemicals stored.

Benefits

  • Completely watertight – a seamless shell with no joints.
  • Hygienic – smooth surfaces resist algae and bacteria and are easy to clean, ideal for drinking water.
  • Corrosion and chemical resistance – protects concrete from attack by chlorides, sulphates and many chemicals.
  • Strong and long-lasting – glass-fibre reinforcement adds strength and impact resistance.
  • Extends tank life – stops the concrete from deteriorating from the inside.

Our process

  1. Inspection – tank emptied and checked for cracks, leaks and damaged concrete.
  2. Preparation – grinding or blasting, crack repair and making good corners and pipe entries.
  3. Primer and resin – surface sealed and the first resin coat applied.
  4. Glass-fibre layers – fibre mat laid and rolled out to remove air, built up to the required thickness.
  5. Gel coat – a smooth, food-grade or chemical-resistant finishing coat.
  6. Curing, cleaning and testing – the lining cures fully, then the tank is washed and filled.

Our crews are trained in GRP application and work under a dedicated supervisor.

Frequently asked questions

Is GRP lining safe for drinking water?

Yes, when food-grade resins and gel coats are used and the lining is fully cured and washed before filling.

How long does the tank need to be out of use?

Typically a few days for a domestic tank, including curing. We plan the work to keep downtime short.

Can you line a leaking tank?

Yes. We repair the concrete first, then apply the lining to seal it.
