Liquid Waterproofing by Saba Al Waha

Liquid waterproofing creates a seamless, rubber-like membrane that follows every shape and detail of your roof, balcony, bathroom or pool. Saba Al Waha applies polyurethane, acrylic, cementitious and polyurea liquid systems for homes and businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the rest of the UAE.

What is liquid waterproofing?

A liquid-applied membrane is brushed, rolled or sprayed onto the surface in coats. As it cures it forms a continuous, fully bonded and flexible waterproof layer with no joints or laps. Because it is applied as a liquid, it wraps easily around pipes, drains, corners and upstands – the places where most leaks start.

Types of liquid membrane we apply

  • Polyurethane – highly elastic, ideal for exposed roofs, terraces and podiums.
  • Acrylic – water-based and UV-resistant, a cost-effective choice for roof maintenance and coatings.
  • Cementitious – flexible cement-based coatings for bathrooms, kitchens, water tanks and pools before tiling.
  • Polyurea – spray-applied and fast-curing, very tough, for car parks, industrial areas and heavy-duty use.

Advantages

  • Seamless – no joints or overlaps where water can get in.
  • Fully bonded – if there is ever damage, water cannot travel under the membrane.
  • Handles complex shapes – perfect for roofs with many pipes, AC bases and drains.
  • Works over many surfaces – concrete, screed, metal, and existing bitumen or asphalt after proper preparation.
  • Quick, low-disruption repairs – no open flame, and many systems can be applied over a sound existing roof.

Where we use it

  • Exposed and accessible roofs, terraces and balconies
  • Bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas under tiles
  • Swimming pools, water features and water tanks
  • Planters, podiums and car park decks

Our application process

  1. Inspection – we find the source of the leak and choose the right liquid system.
  2. Preparation – cleaning, grinding, crack repairs and moisture checks.
  3. Primer and reinforcement – primer applied, and fabric reinforcement added at corners, joints and drains.
  4. Membrane coats – applied in the specified number of coats to reach the correct dry thickness.
  5. Testing and top coat – flood testing where suitable, then a UV-resistant top coat for exposed areas.

We use manufacturer-approved systems from brands such as BASF, Mapei and Henkel, applied by our own supervised crews.

Frequently asked questions

Can liquid waterproofing be applied over existing tiles or an old membrane?

In many cases yes, if the existing surface is sound and well bonded. Our engineer will confirm this during the inspection.

How soon can the area be used?

It depends on the system and the weather. Polyurea can take foot traffic within hours; other systems usually need a day or more between coats.

Is it suitable for drinking water tanks?

Yes, using coatings approved for potable water contact.
